A Happy Flashback

When I was a little girl, maybe eight or nine years old, my father bought me a collection of children's literature. It contained a lot of translated foreign novels for children; "Heidi", "Little Women", "Anne of the Green Gables" and "Daddy-Long-Legs" etc.
I had been reading those favorite stories again and again, for hours after school, everyday. Heroines became my friends.
"What Katy Did" was one of them.

But as I grew up and developed other hobbies, I gradually forget about them.
When I turned twenty, I threw those books away, because I had to leave my home.

Heidi, Anne, Judy, and four sisters of "Little Woman" can often be seen in TV animation drama or movies, but not Katy. "What Katy Did" seems not so well known to Japanese children.

But yesterday, I happened to meet her again at the English paperback section in a large book store for the first time in more than three decades.

This paperback brought me to my good old days. I even recalled the illustrations in the book I read when I was eight years old.

I was struck by this happy flashback and about to cry.

Long time no see, Katy.
